Big Day -- Saturday Construction

Mike had several men and teens come and help throughout the day. They got a lot accomplished! They built the new outside wall and installed the French Doors, tore down the inside kitchen walls and put up the support beam, cleaned up some of the yard, knocked down the brick wall surrounding the patio, tore down the ugly dog house, etc.

Bryant has been such a good helper. He is a worker like his daddy. AND, getting some money is another motivator :)



There was sheetrock behind the panelling, so that is good news :)


Mike changed all the locks on the doors, so our "friends" won't come for a little visit :)


This is the trash that the sellers left for us....they are "supposed to" come and get it on Friday


Priority number one for today was the trampoline. The kids are totally loving it :)

Closing Day....the demolition begins!

It is too long of a story and too ridiculous to relay about the closing today. Let's just say that the sellers are very crooked and selfish people....but, we have the house now and that is all that matters :)

Mike and I were both quite overwhelmed when we finally got into the house and started to look around. There is SO much work to do! It is hard with the kids around because they want to "help" and Makayla is right in the way all the time. AND, she doesn't know how to go down steps yet....so, I have to keep a constant eye on her. All that to say, we are SO glad to be there. I am HOPING to move some mattresses over and some clothes this weekend so we can start living there (Michael won't commit to that happening yet!!!.) That way, I can get some work done after the kids go to sleep. We'll see :)

One more day!!!

Just wanted to let you know that the final walk-through is set for 9:00 tomorrow and then closing is at 11:00. Then the work/fun begins :)

Super Cool blessing!

We found out this weekend that a man from the school (who is a construction guy) has given us an I-beam....I don't even know what that is or if that is how you spell it, but Michael is excited about it :) And, he also said that we can come to his warehouse and pick out all of our cabinets at no charge. Now, I DO know what that means and I am very excited about that -- that is a huge blessing. We don't know for sure what that entails or if he will have enough for all of our kitchen and bathrooms, but whatever it is, it will be a blessing :) Just wanted to share that with you!

I went during inspection today and took some more pictures. It was kinda awkward because the seller was there :) She tried to sell us a bunch of her junk, but we did actually buy one of her bedsets so we would have a queen bed and dresser for when all of our company starts to come :)

Doorway in the kitchen. This will be covered up and French Doors will be put in the eat-in kitchen part. Angie Samms came with us today so she could see the house. She has graciously volunteered to help me paint. She says that she loves to paint and I told her that she is HIRED :)

Master Bedroom


Master bath and closet...the closet actually extends quite a bit on both sides of the door, so he will make the doorway larger so we can reach both ends of the closet :)

I had to run before I found out from Michael how the inspection went, so I will pass it on when I find out :) It was so exciting to be in the house and be able to start picturing our stuff in there. Angie and I went to Lowes to pick out some paint swatches before we went to the inspection....fun fun fun :)

Hey guys! I thought that I would start a blog for just our family to view so you could all see the house as we update it :) Inspection is set for Friday morning - I think. And, I will take TONS of pictures then. Michael is in handyman heaven and can't wait to start demolition!!!!

This is the kitchen that is stuck in the '60s. It is straight ahead when you come in the front door. The wall where the frig is at will be torn down and the current dining room will become part of the eat-in kitchen.
